Train News
Mark Dale – Artist & Illustrator
My latest painting is loco 4566 pulling away from Lowertown Viaduct, near Helston, in the early 1960s. The painting was commissioned by the lovely heritage Helston Railway and hopefully in the not-too-distant future their trains will be passing over the viaduct once more. In the meantime catch their ‘Santa Specials’ for a ride over the existing rails – see the railway’s website for details! www.markdaleart.com
Teddy Bears Picnic
Teddy Bears Picnic based around Helston Railway offering food and refreshments. Saturday 4th – 5th May.
Different Perspective
As a follow up to an earlier posting this is a different perspective of NANCEGOLLAN station on the Helston branch in Cornwall taken whilst on holiday in July 1970. It clearly shows the additional roadbridge span added in 1937 when the yard was extended. At the far end of the yard is the grounded body of Dean clerestorey coach 9025 (visible below the centre of the girder span) which was used as a store. The station and yard area is now the site of an ‘industrial’ estate, the fate of many other disused station areas. (F12)
