Helston Railway  is delighted to announce that we are starting to run train services again from Sunday 15th May. We look forward to welcoming you back to our little railway – we have missed you!  For those who haven’t been before we hope you also fall under the spell of the  unique quality of this beautiful little line.

This year we are reverting to our original opening days of Sundays and Thursdays, and we will also be opening on Wednesdays during July and August.  Our Peckett 2000 is back in service and we also have a new diesel locomotive Kingswood which may be pressed into service on the odd days.  Train times are the same as before and can be found on the 2022 timetable page. From Prospidnick, where there is free parking, the first train leaves at 10.30 am and the last train leaves at 3 pm.  If you want to join the train at Truthall Halt you may – but you will have to walk to it as there isn’t any parking at that station.  Tickets can be purchased on the day from the shop, and as usual we aren’t taking advance bookings

If you haven’t been to us before you won’t have sampled the delights of our buffet and restaurant cars.  So why not give your tastebuds the treat they deserve in the Buffet Carriages at Prospidnick Halt. Featuring an array of locally sourced food including Breakfast, Homemade Cakes, Light Lunches, Afternoon Teas and Cornish Ice Creams.  We also cater to a range of needs covering Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free alternatives. As well as a pop in setting with both indoor and outdoor seating we can also arrange private functions. Not only do we take pride in serving top quality Food and Beverages we also ensure you enjoy our unique quirky dining experience.  If you have any questions about the buffet or bookings contact Fred on 07368 340612 or go to his Facebook page Cornish Carriages Buffet and Restaurant Cars.

Our shop, as usual, will have its eclectic mix of colourful railway themed gifts and clothing, a superb extensive preloved railway book section, reconditioned model railway locos, carriages and accessories and our preloved Thomas Toys – a reasonably priced treat for the little ones.  Dogs are encouraged everywhere except the buffet where space is limited – but the buffet has outside seating where your pet can be looked after;  and the shop usually has dog treats to spoil them.

For the next two weeks until the trains start running again the shop and buffet will be open on Thursdays , Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday if you want to come along to say hi!
