Helston Railway Restoration Project

BuiltWithNOF

It is the ambition of the Helston Railway Preservation Company to restore to working order as much as possible of the Helston Branch Line.

The track was lifted in 1965, and the track bed is now in private ownership. Most of the bridges however, are still owned and maintained by the Strategic Rail Authority.

The Company’s long term aim is to restore the section running between Nancegollan and Helston Water-ma-Trout.

This will then be operated as a tourist steam railway, supplementing the local economy.

†The project requires the support of the local community

• We need the permission of the current owners to lease or purchase the track bed.

• We need the support of local residents and local authorities  in respect of planning applications and Transport and Work Act Orders.

• We need volunteers to provide physical and technical assistance.

• We need to raise about £3 million capital to restore the Nancegollan to Water-ma-Trout section.

• We hope to raise this from share issues, grant aid and donations
