HELSTON RAILWAY CELEBRATES ARRIVAL OF LOCOMOTIVES

The first train on the Helston Branch Line since 1964 was safely delivered over the period 4th. and 5th. September at Trevarno. The Helston Diesel Group transferred their two car Park Royal Diesel Multiple Unit from Gwinear Road .to the recently re-laid track at Trevarno

The Helston Railway earlier took delivery of a Ruston Diesel Shunter, purchased by a group of their volunteers, from the Northampton Ironstone Railway.

The Diesel shunter will be particularly useful as it will assist in laying more track on the branch line at Trevarno Estate, towards Truthall Halt. The Diesel Multiple Unit will provide the passenger accommodation when services start running, and can be hauled by a steam locomotive as well as under its own power when the engines are restored.
